Ambassador Batsukh Galsan - ChAIR

Ambassador Batsukh Galsan has had a distinguished diplomatic and executive career spanning over four decades. He served as Ambassador of Mongolia to China, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Peru, and Paraguay, and as Ambassador-at-Large for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Mongolia. From 2010 to 2024, he chaired the Board of Directors of Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Mongolia’s largest copper and gold joint venture with Rio Tinto. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Crane Foundation in the United States. Ambassador Batsukh is Chairman of the Mongolia-China Friendship Association. 

Ambassador Batsukh holds degrees in Linguistics, International Trade, and a PhD in International Relations. He is a recipient of Mongolia’s highest honours, including the Order of Sukhbaatar and the Order of the Polar Star, as well as international distinctions such as the Canada 150th Anniversary Medal and the China–Mongolia Friendship Award. A fluent speaker of Mongolian, English, Russian, and Mandarin, he has represented Mongolia with distinction in strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations worldwide.

Beyond his diplomatic and international joint venture business careers, Ambassador Batsukh is a nature journalist, author, and conservationist photographer. His works, such as Wildlife & Safari Guide of Mongolia, Whispers of the Birds, Stories of Wilderness: Mongolia & Beyond, and Magnificent Argali: The Wild Sheep of Mongolia, celebrate Mongolia’s rich biodiversity. 

He has also translated books by such popular scholars and academics as Henry Kissinger, Ezra Vogel, James Waterson, Thomas T. Alsen, and Nicholas Morton into Mongolian and contributed to global publications on tourism, trade, and conservation.

His lifelong dedication to international diplomacy, environmental stewardship, and cultural understanding continues to inspire both at home and abroad.

khishigdelger Peljee - Executive director
Picture
Business enthusiast with a strong passion for entrepreneurship through innovative ventures, strategic investments, and sustainable business development. As a major shareholder and General Director at BBH (2017–present),  Degi (Khishigdelger Peljee) has developed the company into a mid-sized industrial electrical contractor, significantly expanding its capacity by successfully participating in major mining projects across Mongolia, including Oyu Tolgoi and Tavan Tolgoi. Prior to that, Degi undertook significant responsibilities in External and Community Relations for the Oyu Tolgoi copper mine and Gurvanbulag uranium exploration projects in Mongolia, as well as managing information dissemination initiatives for the Red Cross Society of Mongolia. Degi graduated with an MBA in British Studies from the School of Foreign Service at the University of Mongolia. He has also completed International Red Cross training programs focused on Communication, Disaster Preparedness, and Response.
BADRAL SAMBUU - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

​Badral Sambuu is an experienced sales and marketing professional with a strong background in managing wind energy projects and leading teams in Mongolia and the APAC region. He has held senior roles at UNITRA LLC and Vestas, where he managed large-scale wind farms and focused on safety, operational efficiency, and customer relations. His education includes a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and certifications in Six Sigma and leadership programs.
BATBAYAR BAt-erdene - legal advisor

Batbayar Bat-Erdene is a Ulaanbaatar-based lawyer specializing in criminal defense and complex procedural matters. A partner at Nomadix Business Law Firm, he brings more than a decade of frontline experience drawn from private practice and law enforcement. He previously served as a senior lawyer at Insto Lex and Bona Lex, after beginning his career as an investigator with the Chingeltei District Police. Educated at the Volgograd Academy of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, he holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in jurisprudence.

Amar is a strategic communications and political risk consultant specializing in Mongolia and Asia. His experience includes advising Rio Tinto on regulatory and stakeholder issues at Oyu Tolgoi and serving in Mongolia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

John Vincic has more than 20 years of experience as a professional communicator specializing in investor relations and financial communications. Munkhdul “Mogi” Badral, has been closely involved in the Mongolian capital market over the last 5 years, starting off as an analyst at a local investment bank before heading the Mongolian office of a top Western Australian junior resource broker.

Having worked in more than 10 countries as the Principal of the Mining Consultancy International (MCI) and as an Executive Director and Senior Director at the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, Ontario, Canada,  Indira’s experience includes: mining law and regulations; policy tools and instruments; resource governance; capacity building; global trends and their impacts on the mineral sector; international standards and practices; stakeholder perspectives; corporate social responsibility; historical legacy issues; and equitable distribution of resource revenues.

Indira has advised governments in Canada, India, Chile, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Colombia and the regional government of Krasnoyarsk in Russia. Indira’s work includes both developed and developing country issues, public and private sectors and first-hand experience of resource management conflicts and competing demands, having lived in northern Ontario. Indira also worked closely with, and gained an understanding of, key stakeholders and their aspirations and expectations across the mining sector.

Indira has also served on many advisory committees. She chairs the Canada India Canada Mining Committee and is one of the incorporating directors for the Global Indigenous Development Trust. Indira is and has been associated with numerous professional and trade associations. She has received awards for leadership for ingenuity and innovation and multi-stakeholder partnerships.

Indira has been interviewed and published by Kazakhstan Forbes Magazine; Indian Abroad, the (Ontario) Northern Business Report and by Mining.com. Indira has written extensively for national and international magazines, and has a book chapter on resource-based sustainable development to her credit.

​​Siri has spent over 25 years working on major capital projects around the world. She has also worked in Canada and the Arctic. Siri is a Canadian and her family is from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and grew up in South America, France, Algeria, Spain and the UK. In the course of her career she has worked in Egypt, Russia, Malaysia, New Caledonia, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Panama, Argentina, Australia as well as Canada, Alaska and the Arctic. She obtained her University degrees from McGill and the Université de Montréal. She is perfectly fluent in English, French and Spanish.

Richard Gosse - ​Minerals Exploration ​

Richard Gosse has over 28 years of experience in minerals exploration working for such companies as Dundee Precious Metals, BHP, Anglo American and Rio Tinto in a number of different commodities. He has extensive experience in intrusive hosted and sediment hosted deposits as well as mesothermal, epithermal and porphyry gold and copper deposits.

He has most recently served as Vice President, Exploration with Turquoise Hill Resources (formerly Ivanhoe Mines) and South Gobi Resources. He has successfully led exploration work in a variety of countries in Europe and Asia including Bulgaria, Mongolia, India, China and Indonesia. Mr. Gosse holds a Bachelor of Science in B.Sc. Geology from Queen's University and a Masters in Mineral Exploration from the Royal School of Mines in London.

Ivan has focused his professional life on social development globally in numerous sectors, through collaborations with diverse partners (CIDA [GAC], IDRC, ADB, WB, Gorbachev Foundation, Habitat for Humanity as well as extractive firms, educational institutions, non-government organizations and all levels of government).

Having worked full time 18 years at universities, 15 years in Asia in various capacities and 6 years with governments, Ivan now consults privately. Specific to Mongolia, since 2006 he has consulted in education, tourism, environment, governance [including elections] and technical training coordination. These opportunities allowed his visitations to 17 aimags (some multiple times). Most recently (2018), he planned and coordinated a customized training programme for Mongolia’s Minister of Environment and his technical team.

Ivan’s strengths are: project conceptualisation, proposal development, implementation, monitoring, coordination and evaluation; multiculturalism; institutional/ organizational development; ethnobureaucratic analysis; gender mainstreaming; sensitivity to local cultures and international conventions; holistic, interdisciplinary, participatory approaches; conflict mitigation; donor and stakeholder coordination; executive leadership training [e.g. strengthened consultant-host relationships; trust; dealing with complex situations; replication process for workable community ideas; etc.]).

An erstwhile alpine guide (Rockies, Alps, Himalaya, Altai) and Olympian (1976), he continues to ski and hike as often as possible.

Kristl Tipton - ADVISOR of Mining Exploration

Mrs. Kristl Tipton is a professional geologist who has worked in mining and exploration for over 20 years. She is currently the Manager of Global Exploration at Nutrien. Her previous experience includes mine site geology in both potash and uranium, project management and continuous improvement. During her time with Cameco’s global exploration group she spent 3 years as a Senior Geologist with Cameco Mongolia – where she ran exploration programs focused on uranium.  In 2023 she transitioned back to her exploration roots and is now the Manager of Global Potash Exploration at Nutrien based in Saskatoon. Kristl is a board member with Women in Mining Canada, a volunteer with the Mentorship Committee at Women in Mining and Women in Nuclear Saskatchewan Inc, as well as a board member with the Society of Economic Geologists’ Publication Board. She has previously served as Board Chair for the Family Service Saskatoon Foundation, and as a board member with Women in Mining and Women in Nuclear Saskatchewan Inc. Mrs. Tipton is a strong advocate for safe and sustainable mining practice and is excited to be involved with the Canada Mongolia Chamber of Commerce.
