The signing ceremony was <u><strong>witnessed by Prime Minister Mark Carney,</strong></u> underscoring the importance of this milestone for Canada&rsquo;s engagement in the region.<br /><br />CanCham Mongolia <strong>Chair, His Excellency&nbsp;</strong><u><strong>Batsukh Galsan, former Ambassador of Mongolia to Canada</strong></u>, signed the MOU on behalf of the organization.<br />&#8203;<br />In closing remarks at the ceremony, CCIP leadership expressed <strong>appreciation to the Prime Minister for his participation</strong>, noting that this marks <strong>the first time many Canadian Chambers abroad</strong> have entered into a formal partnership of this kind&mdash;and their first direct engagement at this level with Canada&rsquo;s Prime Minister. <u><strong>The presence of the Prime Minister highlights the growing importance of coordinated Canadian business representation in the Indo-Pacific.</strong></u><br /><br />Originally envisioned five years ago as a platform to give <strong>Canadian businesses in Asia</strong> a stronger, more consistent voice with Ottawa, CCIP represents a significant step toward deeper, more <strong>structured collaboration</strong>. This new leadership team brings a wealth of experience in business development, international relations, and trade, positioning the Chamber for an exciting future.<br /><br /><strong>Amar Adiya</strong>, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of <em>Mongolia Weekly</em>, will assume the role of President of CMCC. With a robust background in government relations, public affairs, and strategic communications, Amar brings global experience that will strengthen the Chamber&rsquo;s efforts to enhance trade and investment opportunities between Canada and Mongolia.<br /><br /><strong>Gerelt Trost</strong> has been appointed Executive Director of CMCC. She has over a decade of leadership in international project management and financial administration, having managed large-scale global partnerships at the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Fluent in five languages, Gerelt&rsquo;s extensive expertise will play a crucial role in fostering collaboration between Canadian and Mongolian businesses.<br /><br /><strong>Badral Sambuu</strong>, an experienced sales and marketing professional, will serve as CMCC&rsquo;s Business Development Director and Representative in Mongolia. With senior roles at UNITRA LLC and Vestas, where he managed wind energy projects across the APAC region, Badral brings a strong focus on operational efficiency, safety, and customer relations. padding:0 15px;"> 					 						  <div class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">I attended a very interesting event a couple weeks ago called  &ldquo;Mongolian Street Food&rdquo; at the Louie Craft Coffee near the Liberty  Village in Toronto.&nbsp; This event was organized by the Canada Mongolian  Chamber of Commerce (CMCC) to celebrate their 1st Anniversary, and to promote Mongolian Culture through street foods.<br /><span style=""></span><br /><span style=""></span> I was immediately drawn to both aspects of the rare opportunity to  explore &ldquo;Mongolian&rdquo; and &ldquo;Street Food&rdquo; culture, so I decided to venture  out on this otherwise humdrum Wednesday night.<br /><span style=""></span><br /><span style=""></span> Upon arrival to a full house at the Louie Craft Coffee, I was greeted  with a roomful of friendly faces of young men and women with full smile  and sparkly eyes.&nbsp; We were offered a refreshing Seabuckthorn drink,  which is a very concentrated berry juice mixed with your choice of flat  or carbonated water.&nbsp; Then I was led to my seat and the dinner menu was  presented and explained to me by the friendly staff.<br /><span style=""></span><br /><span style=""></span>  <u style="">Menu</u><br /><span style=""></span><br /><span style=""></span> Buuz &ndash; traditional Mongolian lamb + beef dumplings<br /><span style=""></span><br /><span style=""></span> Ulaanbaatar (UB) Salad &ndash; potato salad with a choice of vegetarian or beef tongue<br /><span style=""></span><br /><span style=""></span> Hailmag &ndash; Mongolian butter pastry (chocolate or peanut butter)<br /><span style=""></span><br /><span style=""></span> Tsai &ndash; salted Mongolian milk tea<br /><span style=""></span><br /><span style=""></span> Seabuckhorn Juice<br /><span style=""></span><br />It was quite a treat to taste all these  authentic Mongolian street foods, but I was&nbsp;even&nbsp;more touched by the  opportunity to meet and talk to the Mongolian Canadians, whom I have  never had a chance to meet before.&nbsp; I&nbsp;was shocked&nbsp;to learn that there  are only about 200 Mongolians living in Toronto,&nbsp;it made the CMCC&rsquo;s 1st  Anniversary even more meaningful and precious, and I&nbsp;felt&nbsp;very special  to be amongst this small community to celebrate with them.&nbsp; The set-up at the different tables was ideal. Each of the cultures  or countries had a flag on the wall behind its collection of symbols,  arts and crafts. A student and a  representative of the Canada-Mongolia Chamber of Commerce were there. I  remembered Mongolia as a Buddhist country. What was it doing at a  primarily Muslim festival? Uighurs live in the far west of Mongolia,  they said. Uighurs are Muslim and Turkic speaking. I should have  remembered them and the Kazaks. The Mongolians were showing a Mongolian  flag, not a Uighur or Kazak flag. The highlight for me was an example of <em style="">khoomei</em>  &ndash; Amai, the singer, refused to call it &ldquo;throat singing&rdquo;. That of the  world-traveling adventurist-author was more profound and spiritual than  any of the throat singing I heard in Mongolia. It was short and  wonderful, more like what I&rsquo;ve heard in Tibetan Buddhist monasteries  than in tourist shows in Ulan Bator.<br /> Amai sang to us from New York City via Skype. He had been unable to get a  visa in time to come to Toronto. Lkhagva Amarsanaa  was demonstrating Mongolian calligraphy.
